Order Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery Of The Mummy

I guess I was a bit more impressed with this game than the majority of reviewers. It took me a long time to finish and I had to refer to a walkthrough. The game does provide clues on one of the menu screens, but I rarely used it because I forgot it was there. It would have been helpful. The walkthrough I used was for the PC game and the DS version is very close in terms of the items you need to find but it does not have what seems to be very difficult timed puzzles that are in the PC game. Here's my breakdown of the game (no spoilers, I promise).

Mission: You are Sherlock Holmes. You are contacted by Elisabeth Montcalfe who is going to marry your distant cousin. As your future cousin, Elisabeth wishes you to investigate the disappearance of her father, the archeologist Lord Montcalfe. This investigation takes place in Lord Montcalfe's manor which is full of Egyptian artifacts making it look more like a museum. Elisabeth warns you that there are traps throughout the manor set by her father who was in an unstable mental state months before his disappearance. Your task is to explore the rooms of fascinating ancient relics and find items to help you gain access to secret passageways in order to find pieces of evidence (lots of notes and letters) to ascertain what happened to Lord Montcalfe. All I'll say is that the Montcalfe family has some major issues.

Graphics and Music: Graphically, this game is very impressive. There are many rooms to visit with excellent details. There are also several movie cut scenes that are very well-done. Sherlock is a bit stilted in his movements but, for a DS game, they are pretty realistic. The music is nice, too. It is repetitive but not irritating. It seems to complement the game play rather than overpower it. I found I did not need to turn the volume off as I sometimes do with games like this. Another plus, there are voices! You hear Sherlock talk! Some reviewers do not like this feature, but I think it is cool. He sounds like Don Adams of Get Smart. There is also text when he talks and, sometimes the wording of the text does not exactly match what Sherlock says, but this detail is insignificant when it comes to the gameplay.

Gameplay: There is a lot to explore with many rooms, secret passages, and plenty of stuff everywhere, so it does take some time. It must be easier than the PC game with its difficult timed puzzles. There are a few segments of this game where there is a time glass on the side, but you are given plenty of time (except one room where breathing is difficult) and the glass will probably not be close to emptying by the time you finish the task. I found the puzzles, for the most part, to be very challenging. I had to use the walkthrough to get through most of it although there were a few I was able to figure out or stumbled upon the answer. Some puzzles, like the rotating room, I think would drive me nuts without the walkthrough. When you get close to solving a puzzle or find something that requires an action, Sherlock will let you know by saying: "I need something else," or "I must have made a mistake, let's see from the beginning" (strange wording, but you get the idea).

Summary: The storyline is a bit convoluted and there are lots of letters and notes to read, but you will discover that the Montcalfe family is pretty messed up. I found the game intriguing enough that I wanted to keep playing even when I got stuck. The ending was a bit disappointing as once Sherlock reveals what he discovered, that was it. The game just ends after the lengthy final cut scene. I dropped a star for this reason and that some of the puzzles were a bit frustrating. There are no mini games and no reason to play the game again for different results, etc., so I dropped another star. Still, anyone interested in mysteries, Ancient Egyptian themes or Sherlock Holmes should definitely check this game out.

Nintendo DSi XL 20 in 1 Starter Kit - Black Order Now

I just bought my DSiXl and had also bought a carrying case/car charger combo pack for $20.00 along with it at Gamestop. Unfortunately, my dog, Remy chewed up the carrying case, large stylus, and the one game contained within it while I was asleep a few days back. (Thankfully, he didn't get the DSi Xl) In searching for a replacement I came across this product on Amazon and I must say it is really quite a deal. I'll just do a quick run through of the items you will receive:

1. The protective case: It's not made of a hard plastic. I'm not sure if it is actully plastic, but it is sturdy. It is also flexible so while it would definitely protect your DSi XL from drops I'm not sure how well it would do if you dropped something heavy on the case itself or say stepped on it or something. The case's hinge is a piece of thick, sturdy fabric that runs along the entire back edge. The case also has two zippers. When you open it up, in the top part there is a holder for the big stylus and below that (still in the top part) are three sewn in netted areas to hold your games. There are also three little hard game cases for your DSiXL games that are included and they fit right in the netting. My only issue here, and it's a minor one, is that the stylus holder is so close to the top edge of where the games sit that in order to remove the little cases have to use your thumb and forefinger and pinch each case by its top corners to slide them out. This is not a deal breaker just a little inconvenient. If you have big fingers though it might be more of a pain. The bottom part of the case has two sewn in elastic strips that you slide the entire DSi XL under. So this case will not allow for you to play the DSi XL while it is inside it. Unless you cut out the elastic straps, but then I don't think the console would be as secure inside the case as a result. Getting the DSi XL in and out of the case however, is very smooth and it sits snugly in the case when it's all zipped up.
Also included with the case is a nifty Carabiner hook so you can just attach it securely your belt loop if you are on the go. If you don't like the hook, they've included two standard wrist bands.
There's also fabric tote bag with a draw string that easily fits the entire DS and hard case with no problems.

2. The charging dock is awesome. Plug your power cord into the wall and the other end into the dock. The DSi XL then is seated vertically (lengthwise) in the dock. The dock is not super heavy but once the DSi XL is seated in it it's heavy enough to not slide around. The dock also emits a cool blue light (bright enough to light up part of the ceiling in my bedroom) from it's base when it's plugged in. The DSi XL covers most of the light though once it's seated in so you should be able to keep this on your nightstand with no problems.

3. The USB SD card reader is another bonus. Now you can transfer photos from you DSi XL to PC with ease.

4. The car charger seems sturdy and the cord is over five feet in length.

Everything else is pretty self explanatory; the ear buds, audio splitter, screen protectors, cleaning cloth, large stylus, and two small styluses.

I am very pleased with this kit and have decided that calling it a "starter kit" is a bit of an understatement as it has everything you need and more for a really nice price. I was a little worried the kit was going to be cheaply made because of the price but that has not been the case. I bought one of these kits for my brother and he was also very impressed with everything it contained.

I highly recommend this product.

**I've added some photos and I apologize ahead of time for the quality, they were taken with my IPhone and I'm definitely not a photographer.

***Addition. About the screen protectors I haven't used them yet, but my brother did and he offered the following: There are four protectors total. He messed up the first one because there was a speck of dirt on the top screen when he put it down. But the next two he got right and he said that they look perfectly fine and do not interfere with the functions at all. Basically they each have three layers; you peel off the bottom and that reveals the sticky side that is going to go face down, then line it up carefully. He suggested to slowly roll the protector down (like a carpet or a lasanga noodle if that makes sense) rather than laying it flat because it's a better way to avoid bubbles. Once it's in place you peel off the back layer and it's on. Once he got them on he was very pleased with how they looked.

Star Wars the Clone Wars: Republic Heroes Buy Now

The saga of the republic continues....I am having fun with this game. For me, it is challenging. Some parts are easy and some parts are more difficult which makes the game more challenging than other Star War games. While I am a huge Star Wars fan I do not care for all the games that have been deployed under the name sake. However, this game has been one I would recommend for any one who just wants to have some fun destroying the empire.Star Wars the Clone Wars: Republic HeroesGet more detail about Star Wars the Clone Wars: Republic Heroes.

Well the case that came with it was getting to small for my accessories, so my mom went to GameStop and I found the G-pak. It was able to hold both kinds of chargers (house and car), the DS, headphones, 5 extra stylus, extra stuff and 32 games. It even held my small deck of cards! If you have quite a few accessories you should defeniently buy this case. You won't regret it!Get more detail about Nintendo DS Lite G-pak Organizer Coral Pink.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized Top Quality

So...I've heard what people have said, and I've played it. Usually the multiplayer online isn't the BEST, but it gets the job done. I much prefer playing with friends and find the lag to be little to none. As for the graphics...good enough. I love the reload animations, guns and sounds which remind me of Modern Warfare 2.

The reason so many people complain, is that they forget something... ONE: BUY A GODFORSAKEN Thylus, or Ds Wrist Strap for six dollars. That way you aren't cramping up. They are under ten bucks and last a good while. And since this is a FPS, you need one. Even IGN points out that having a ds strap for ANY fps on the ds, helps it out infinitely.

I would reccomend this game to any Call of Duty fans, as long as they accomplish the above. As for the weapons and campaign...I loved them, and kind of was disappointed that you couldn't just unlock them during campaign. But all well. Better than no auto shotty's right?

Lol.
