Its hard to justify trading up a game system, when it is essentially the same system, just a few more bells and whistles that don't impact the game technology, BUT I give exception this time and only because its the screen size. I did not choose to go from DS Lite to DSi because there wasn't enough to justify the cost.
It is worth noting that I did not purchase this through Amazon, but through a gaming retailer where I have a membership that allows me to trade for store credit. This had a HUGE impact on my decision to trade up, as my trade-in's and the in-store trade-in promo, covered over half the cost of the new DS.
I ABSOLUTELY love the bigger size, which was my sole reason for doing this. It is not much heavier and it is cool to be able to surf the internet wirelessly in my home. (Although this was NOT a deciding factor, since every game system in our home and any other internet capable device is hooked up to our home wireless network)
The sound seems better and the screen brighter with less glare than the other one.
The system comes with a larger 'pen' like stylus, which I haven't used yet but seems decent enough. Will I use the cameras or download games from Nintendo?, probably not. But there they are.
I would not recommend trading up, unless you are an avid player, your current system is acting randy or you don't already own one. If you don't own one, I think it is absolutely worth the extra cash for the larger screen.
For a seek-in-find addict like myself, this will be awesome.
