Order Meteos

I was looking to buy this game for quite awhile after hearing and reading all the good stuff about it. I finally did and I have not been disappointed. For a game that does not come with online play you can spend a ton of time playing it by yourself. The modes that are available are vast in their replayability.

If you do not know this game is a different take on tetris. Blocks fall from the top of the screen and it is your job to line up 3 alike horizontally. Once you have done that they will fly upwards, depending on the level your playing on they will fly off the screen. This will create a bunch of blocks on your opponents screen. The blocks will first appear as nothing but eventually change to the normal blocks. If at any time one of the rows of blocks gets full to the point where there is no room for another to fit you/your opponent will lose. This is the basic premise of the game, and its terribly addicting.Get more detail about Meteos.

Where To Buy Cake Mania

I originally played this game as a download on my cell phone and was hopelessly addicted to it. So when I got my Nintendo DS....I thought I'd get the DS version and try it out. It is definitely a keeper. I have now tried Cake Mania 2 and 3 as well....and this one is still a winner. The cake/frosting/icing buttons are nice and big. It is easy to distinguish the shapes on the layer cakes. And my personal FAVORITE thing about this game......it saves your final score!!!! I really wish the other 2 games did that. I like the challenge of trying to beat my previous scores. At 1st, I wasn't too crazy about the fact that the screen has to scroll over to get to the place for the toppers...but I got used to it and now it doesn't bug me so much. It is definitely a time management game worth having. If it actually SAVED your progress on each level so you could quit and turn off your DS and then get back to it the following day....I would have given the game 5 stars. As it is....to get a really high score, you have to play the game all the way through.Get more detail about Cake Mania.

Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess

My three-year-old loves this game. She got it 8 months ago and still plays through it. I think it's her favorite because she doesn't have to ask me or her older sister for help. Yes, it is short, but I believe that's why she likes it. She can finish it, and then move on to something else. Plus, I don't let her play for hours on end, so why not a short game?Get more detail about Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess.

Imagine: Fashion Designer World Tour DS Review

I've read the other reviews for this game, and I have a major complaint: REVIEW THE GAME. NOT THE SHIPPING, NOT YOUR KIDS' REACTIONS, THE ACTUAL GAME!!! Thank you. And now, onto the REAL review.

Graphics:
I've heard a lot of people whining about the NDS's graphics. The truth of the matter is, the DS just doesn't have powerful enough software to produce graphics like the PSP or Wii or Xbox or whatever. So as far as the Nintendo DS's standards go, the graphics are somewhat decent. They have impproved majorly since the first Fashion Designer game, and are a bit better than the New York's. It's still very pixelly at times, though. I despise taking full-length pics in the game because the model's lips look like they've been mutated ( O ) ( O )

Music:
I'm not gonna lie to you; the music is AWFUL. I always turn the volume down and stick my headphones in to listen to my iPod when I play the game. Hooray for iPods!!!:D

Gameplay:
The gameplay is nothing like the first game; instead it leans a lot more towards the New York style. So if you liked the gameplay of the first Fashion Design game, you're probably gonna hate this.
The game's time is based on "seasons" and "months"; The basic schedule of each month in each season is this: Read the magazines to trend ideas, call people and get information on the current trend, make the minimum amount of clothes, display clothes on your mannequins, take pictures, do a fashion show or two, and get your sales report. True, it is very enjoyable at first. But it gets very repetitive very fast. Another thing that stinks is the fact that you don't seem to unlock any more fashion options. (Other than buying things at stores.) But then again I haven't completed the game yet, so I may be surprised. There also a lot, and I mean A LOT, of cutscenes. Which, I might add, are mediocre and pointless in my opinion. Younger girls may enjoy them, but chances are they won't. There are some nice new features, like being able to go out and buy clothes, accessories, stamps, patterns, shoes, etc. and the ability to break the article of clothing you're tailoring into separate sections and color them accordingly. The gameplay is nice, but repeats itself way too much. I don't reccommend playing this game for more than an hour at a time, to avoid boredom.

Well, there you have it. I hope that this review helped you make a decision of whether or not to buy it. If not, then well I guess I'll go shoot myself for being such a biased loser. (Okay, maybe not THAT...) Sooo.... Please tell me if the review helped you or not by clicking on the little button thingy! Pleez I need friends!!! *sobs* Ha ha joking just read it pls. As for me, I'm gonna go play Avalon Code. Byes!

Dream Day Wedding Destinations Best Quality

I really like seek and find/hidden object games for my DSi. They are usually very easy to play at night before bed and normally pretty relaxing to me. I have played Millionheir (the best of the bunch), Amazing Adventures, Cate West, Mystery P.I. and more.

This game is adequate. Thus 3 stars. The objects are harder to find than in many other games I've played and the timer adds an element of stress that I do not enjoy (that is not to say you won't but I didn't). Additionally the music is positively brutal. The wedding march and other fairy tale wedding songs. It was really tough for me to keep at this game with the music as it was just too much. I don't hate weddings (had one myself) but I do not want to listen that that music for hours and hours and hours. I did end up turning it off.

The good news is that this game is not that long. I'm nearly done with story 1 and I've been at it less than 2 hours. If there are 3 stories/couples that means this one will clock in at under 10 hours (possibly under 6 which woud be awful). At a price of around ten to fourteen this would be a good pick up. Not great. There are much better but this will do in a pinch. Kind of like when you really want chocolate and all you can find is a chocolate chip granola bar or something.Get more detail about Dream Day Wedding Destinations.

Crime Scene Get it now!

I love this type of a game but, using the tools are a bit frustrating. The booklet does not explain how the tools are suppose to be used if you fail after so many tries the game is over and you must start from the beginning. It took me quite a few tries to handle the use of the swab. This game is a challenge and I guess thats what it's suppose to be. I would give a 5 if they had explained or given a demo on the intro.Get more detail about Crime Scene.

A Witch's Tale Buy Now

The story follows Liddel, a witch-in-training who's bored with what she's learning in school and wants to learn an all-powerful spell so that she can become the most powerful witch in the world. To that end, she goes looking for the spell at an old abandoned castle and ends up releasing the Eld Witch and waking up Louis, the vampire. And so for the rest of the game, Liddel and Louis are on a quest to reseal the Eld Witch by obtaining the seals from the 7 princesses ruling the 7 worlds.

Now, an interesting thing about this game is that the true and "happy" ending can only be obtained by completing the game twice. I also found that the story is revealed more fully when you play through the second time, with additional little tidbits that add immensely to the tale. And because of the way the fights are in this game, the second play through is actually quite fast and not as tedious as you would think. I highly recommend playing through that second time for the real ending, it truly makes a huge difference in how the story plays out. I really hope they make a sequel for this game, I'd love to see more about Liddel and her world.Get more detail about A Witch's Tale.

Low Price Soul Bubbles

This is a perfect Nintendo DS game. It is a game that was designed with children in mind, but is enjoyable, probably even more so, by adults. It is a challenging game, and thought needs to be put into it to get through the levels. The levels are mazes, and the challenge is to get through the levels while taking care of some very fragile souls. You are entrusted with delivering these souls to a place at the end of each maze, and you carry them around inside protective bubbles, hence the name, "Soul Bubbles".

This is the fifth DS game I've played, and so far my favorite. When I first started playing it, I didn't realize how addicting it would be. But the truth is, it is a laid back game, with no time pressures on you, or tons of enemies attacking you. It is a strategy game where obstacles are placed in your path, and you have to use the resources found in your environment to get past those obstacles. There are a number of treasures or objects that can be found within the mazes, and it's not easy to find them all, or in some cases, easy to reach them all; you have to be creative in your methods. That is why adults will fare better at this game than children.

The music and sound effects are beautiful and esthetically very pleasing. No corny soundtracks can be found in this game. The artwork is very effective and pleasant, and the dynamics of objects in the environment obey the laws of physics very well. Overall, the game was designed and tested to the point where I can't find any faults in the game play. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Be prepared to spend about 16-hours to complete the entire game. After playing it once through, you can probably complete it again in 8-hours. There are 7-environments in which you travel. Each environment contains 5-levels of mazes, with each one increasing in difficulty, and with more challenges and resources for you to overcome and use. The levels are not repetitive, and each one offers a different flavor and charm.

If you are a true gamer, this is definitely one for you.

Cheap Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume

While there are some good things going for this game, a lot of the innovations are either tedious or silly, and most importantly, the game suffers from an AI that is dumber than a box of rocks. Let me start off with the AI, first of all.

The battle system - the battle system is slightly silly and not a plausible representation of how spacetime would normally work. It's quirky and based on goofball spacetime bifurcations kind of like in Disgaea: anytime you're in range of an enemy and an ally initiates an attack, you get a free attack. For a party of 4, this can mean that your party can attack up to 16 times in one turn. It's not really a plausible mechanism, and there's no reason why people should be able to perform actions 4 times as quickly as usual just because other people are around. A more reasonable approach would be to make characters pool all of their attacks into a unified attack, so that the combos and whatever still stack and the enemy still only gets to counter-attack once (if they even survive at all). Needlessly proliferating the total number of actions characters can take is just random and cheesy, and it severely limits the effectiveness of splitting the party into two halves, say - which means there are less possibilities for mixing up strategies in a halfway effective manner. It pigeonholes you into rigging up a geometric configuration that maximizes the total number of attacks, rather than prioritizing targets in any strategic way.

The Sin system is not only tedious, but it turns the usual principles of strategy inside-out just for the lulz. Instead of efficiently managing your attacks to just barely squeeze past a rough battle against an aggressive, evenly-matched foe, you're presented with a ton of overpowered morons you're supposed to overkill one at a time - otherwise, the money and items you need to succeed in the game are withheld from you for not producing enough "Sin". However, it's not hard to produce sufficient "Sin", just tedious - you just gang up everyone on one target after another - lather, rinse, repeat - the whole game long, and endure the repeated finishing attack cutscenes on top of the already-lethal damage you already dealt.

The AI. It is massively stupid, and is probably the biggest, most striking cut corner the whole production. The enemy characters are entirely catatonic until there is something to heal or attack within range that turn. To compensate for this, they stack the odds against you otherwise, making battles into a very tedious exercise in which "strategy" means drawing aggro just enough to pick off lone enemies one or two at a time. This is why it's trivial to max out your "Sin" if you're doing well enough to beat the map at all - most of the enemies will ignore you for most of the fight, and everyone is attacking multiple times anyway because of the spacetime goofiness, so it's not like you have to make careful choices on who to take down and ration out damage - you hit everyone ever time for full damage, and only two per turn anyway because the rest patiently wait for you to approach them while you beat up their comrades, like mindless the mindless horde of circling thugs in a cheesy martial arts film.

The real trouble comes in rescue missions. These are the only missions that turn out to be hard, if not impossible. Your "rescue" target usually does pathetic damage that only serves to provoke near-fatal counterattacks. Not only are they pathetic, but their attacks don't combo with your party, so the spacetime exploitation wackiness doesn't kick in to bring them almost up to par. They don't even move, and in one mission, you're supposed to rescue a priestess who starts out within range of three enemies, any two of which can kill her in one turn... and she doesn't move away at all. There might be some way to use some kind of spell to draw the attacks to another character, but I didn't stick around to find out because at this point, playing the game any longer would just have been an exercise in feeling like throwing the DS through a window. This wouldn't be at all necessary if the AI just weren't so totally stupid.

This came a few missions after another rescue mission, which I will describe: The computer has a mage and a lancer. The lancer is within attacking range of your rescue target, and for some reason attacks from one square away instead of two to avoid counterattacks. Well, whatever. You can heal your rescue target faster than he can damage her, so no problem there... or so you think. After several turns, she finally wears the lancer down. So the mage walks over to heal the lancer. Then the next turn, the mage is close enough to the rescue target that suddenly he has the bright idea of adding some attacks of his own... but in the world of VP:CotP, two attackers means *four* attacks per turn, because of the spacetime wackiness - and there's no way to heal fast enough (this is assuming you haven't used the Plume on your only healer in a previous battle, in which case you just can't win and you have to start the game over). Suddenly the rules of the game are totally changed because a monumentally stupid AI got just the right nudge from a hidden timer you probably wouldn't have expected; instead of being primarily a game of strategy, the wonky, stupid AI turns the game into a nonsensical, isometric version of Choose Your Own Adventures, where you just have to experiment and see how the AI of your overpowered-but-stupid opponent will react, and start over if you do the wrong thing.

You can't win without exploiting the AI, and if there's no one to rescue, you can sit around recovering as long as you want, making it more like a turn-based version of the boring early parts of World of Warcraft where you hunt non-hostile creatures. If you want to juggle resources and take chances as foes advance from all sides in the heat of battle... this isn't the right game for you, at least half the time.

The multiple plot threads and endings and such are nice, but they killed this game by making it clumsy and awkward. You might find some fun in there in spite of all that, but the hard parts aren't hard for the right reasons, and if you're like me, you'll be more relieved that they're over than pleased with your strategies.Get more detail about Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume.

Buying Emergency Room: Real Life Rescues

I was enjoying this game, the story seemed interesting, and the game play was not bad. The problem I have, is that the game freezes up on my DS (which is not old). At a certain point in the game after about two trauma sessions it completely stops working, as in there is no way to go forward in the game, it just sits on one screen without the ability to do anything more.
I may have gotten a bad copy, because other games work perfectly fine on my DS.
This was my experience with the game, so I can not give any further information on it other than that.Get more detail about Emergency Room: Real Life Rescues.

Buy Metal Slug 7

Back on the Neo-Geo Pocket Color (for all 5 of you who may have had one), there were a couple of Metal Slug games - First Mission and Second Mission. These games were actually made from the ground up to be handheld titles. There were branching missions (slug-plane gets shot down, go to one mission; make it to the end of the level, go to another, etc.), health and rank upgrades, unlockable characters. It took me about 6-7 playthroughs to see everything they had to offer.

Metal Slug 7 unfortunately is basically another iteration of the arcade series. It's very short, completely linear, and is very little bang for your buck. It's fun while it lasts, but when you get down to it it's like a prettier, funnier, easier Contra, one that you won't want to replay nearly as much.Get more detail about Metal Slug 7.

Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon Immediately

This game is too short, and has an average difficulty level. Spyro and Cynder are both playable and can be exchanged instantaneously in the gameplay. The graphics are poor to averagedepending on what stage you are on, and the game is two-dimensional. They use melee moves to fight enemies, and their breath attacks are upgradeable. Spyro uses fire, ice, electricity, and earth elemental breaths, while Cynder uses shadow, fear, poison, and wind elemental breaths. In the flying and boss stages Spyro shoots fireballs, and Cynder uses a poison stream and they both dodge. The boss stages often have falling obstacles that are difficult to dodge because of the fact that they usually appear right before they hit you. Despite this, bosses still do not take forever to beat. The storyline is like the Wii version, though it is not as clear because of the graphics. I suggest the Wii version.Get more detail about Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon.

Hot Wheels: Beat That Get it now!

This game is played by my younger sons but I have taken a couple of turns too. It is fairly easy to play - hold down the A button down for forward and B for backward motion and the arrow pad for direction. It keeps them interested enough to remain in rotation.

There are 12 tracks that mimic actual Hot Wheel play sets and my boys liked this detail. They did not get bored with the same tracks being used over and over again for all 100+ races although I could see an adult or older kid losing interest in repeating the same tracks so often.

I found myself playing this game for much longer then I thought and it was fun to race the car around, trying for that perfect score of 5. Your performance is rated 1-5 after each race.

Since this game is still played with 6 months after purchase, it was worth the purchase price. It is not one of those games that got played with all the time and then put away to gather dust.

My daughter had not used a screen protector on her Nintendo DS lite, so over time, the screen had become scratched and difficult to see through. Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime Right now

This game certainly isn't for everyone.

If you're looking for an RPG, and can't stand childish gameplay look elsewhere. This isn't a typical Dragon Quest game.

However if you can get past the childishness there's a lot to love about Dragon Quest Rocket Slime.

This game really is more like 2 games in one. Half the time it's a God view action/adventure platformer where your goal is to progress through various areas of Slimenia defeating enemies and collecting items and enemies. The other half of the game is spent fighting tank battles, which is by far more in depth. You can customise your supporting characters which have different strengths and weeknesses, edit the ammo that your tank carries (ammo is extremely varied and can include almost any item you can pick up while progressing through the various worlds and be created by combining items in your alchemy pot. In addition to loading the two cannons with ammo you can also use your crew (and yourself) to infiltrate the enemy tank; steal items, attack the enemy crew and generally wreck havoc.

In short this is a fun, light hearted, and pretty easy game that will keep you entertained for a good 15-20 hours. I couldn't put it down and enjoyed the entire experience. My age recommendation would be 8+ .It's a pretty easy game and I can't imagine very many parents finding anything they would find offensive. The violence is extremely tame and cartoonish.

Enjoy.Get more detail about Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.

Discount Imagine Interior Designer DS

I got this game, because I wanted to design rooms. You start out with one customer. Then, as the game continues you get more costumers, who give you tasks that you have to do. For example, a woman comes into your shop wanting a four-poster bed. You go into her room, and design a bed. It can really be anything, as long as it's a four poster bed. The tasks get harder and more demanding as the game continues. But no matter how hard the task gets, you can be creative. Another game from imagine, imagine: fashion designer, also gives you tasks, but you have to do them in exactly one way and you cannot deviate.

Once you are done with all the tasks, you get to design your dream room, and you can save your design. One thing I kind of don't like about this game is that you can save only two dream rooms. So if you have already done two, you have to delete a room that you designed before.

Over all, I would recommend this game to anyone who likes designing things, :)Get more detail about Imagine Interior Designer DS.

Purchase Exit

Basics: You save people(plus one dog) from various dangerous situations. After you reach them on the level they snap out of their panicked state and become playable characters. It is through astute sequential use of everyone's specific skillset that you figure out the way to get them all safely to the exit.

Examples of some of each character's precise abilities and limitations are what size blocks one can push, how far of a gap one can leap, how high of a platform or block can one climb up on or jump down from etc.

Every set of ten levels has a different theme and often introduces a unique puzzle mechanic, such as ice, movable platforms, balances, rock or cement barriers, swimmable water, directable conveyors and others.

Pros:

Levels are generally cleverly and sometimes ingeniously designed.
The levels are challenging enough that 150 is enough to last you a long time(I would estimate more than 20 hours worth of gameplay for most players).
Almost no precise timing or reflex actions needed, just careful thought and analysis of the specifics of the situation.
Plenty of levels are always unlocked for you, so if you are having trouble with one, you can always try another.

Cons:

Doesn't record the total time you spent or the number of attempts before you solved a level.
The physics of how some items behave in the game doesn't always match the real world eg for some solutions you stack blocks in ways that would topple over in reality(This isn't a real big deal, you just have to get used to and accept the game's reality).
No option to turn off phrases that the characters use repetitively.

Comments: This is one of my favorite DS games; I really enjoyed its challenge. In terms of the type of puzzle solving required, it reminded me alot of Toki Tori and Adventures of Lolo, so if you like those you definitely will enjoy Exit DS.

Also there is a sequel, Exit 2, that was released on Xbox Live Arcade which is worth getting if you liked this one(Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will be released on DS).

Order Cake Mania 2

Very much the same as the original Cake Mania. This has about double the game play. You really get your money's worth.
The graphics look fantastic on the DSi XL. It makes a huge difference in being able to see the second layer on a two layer cake. If you are playing on a DS Lite then you will have some problems with things being too small to see. The game is still enjoyable though.
Customers come into your bakery and order cakes. Your job is to fill the orders while keeping the customers happy. You keep them happy by filling orders quickly, giving out cupcakes, or turning the TV to their favorite channel.
I would recommend this game for when you have time to kill and just want to relax.Get more detail about Cake Mania 2.

Guinness World Records: The Videogame Review

For my nephew's 8th birthday we bought him this game. He is a very competitive kid and from other reviews it sounded like this was a game he could "compete" on and try to beat other's scores. According to him, "It blew me away! It's awesome. Really awesome."

I know he plays it a lot so it looks like a winner!
