My 6 year old daughter loves this game. It took a little bit of guiding from me and my wife to help her understand what the game wanted her to do, but now that she's got the hang of it, she loves it. We also got Littlest Pet Shop City, but decided to trade it to someone else because it's too similar to this game. Apparently there are different pets to unlock and such, but the look and feel and initial areas are exactly the same.
